My New Year’s Resolutions for 2018

LIFE

After the glitz of the holidays runs out, and you’re left to take down the decorations and deal with the 10 pounds you gained in the last two months, things get real serious.

We then begin to set these huge expectations for ourselves (as if we haven’t tried… and failed at them before) and act as if we can take on the world. Well this year, I have decided I AM going to take on the world. 2018 is the “just go for it” year for me. I wanted to sit down and write out my goals for you guys today. Maybe it will inspire you, but mostly, I’m just trying to hold myself accountable! Here are four S’s that I hope to specifically work on in 2018.

1. SLOW DOWN //

Y’all. I blinked. Do you ever have that feeling? That feeling when you are hustling to get through today and looking forward to “some day” and then poof, today is “some day”?

All of a sudden, my baby is almost a year old, I’m almost 25 (WHAT?), I’m working like a mad person, my best friend just got engaged, one little brother just got married, and the other is a super talented singer producing and writing his own albums. And I just am realizing that all these people that told me life was about to fly by after Shep was born… Well, they were right. In 2018, I really want to slow down in all the senses. I want to be intentional with my time. I want to spend more time watching Shep play and have his “firsts”. I want to stop and smell the roses and not be in such a hurry to get to “some day”.

2. STAY CONSISTENT IN BLOGGING //

Next, I want to grow this blog! In 2018, I hope to stay consistent by working on this community. I have so many ideas, but I want to make sure that they don’t stop at just dreaming and that I “just go for it”! I have hopes to make new friends through blogging. I want to capture the “here and now” of my family’s life and store it here to look back on. I hope to speak to other young mamas to help them realize that they can do it all and that you can love yourself (and your little one) (and your husband) all while doing all the things.

3. SPEND TIME ON RELATIONSHIPS //

After realizing that life is just flying by, Logan and I have both agreed that we want to focus in on people this year. I want to be intentional with talking, and more importantly, listening to people. I want to host more in my home. I want to pray for people and their needs. I want to love on my boy, my husband, family, friends, and my students better. I want to spend more time in the Word and holding close to my Savior. I want to be able to hear Him more clearly, and in turn, keep in step with Him when loving on His people.

4. STOP CRITICIZING MYSELF //

I know I’m not the only one. I know I’m not the only girl that scrolls through Instagram in shame and self-loathing every once in a while. I know I’m not the only one who looks in the mirror and suddenly blocks out the Father’s words and thoughts of me. I know I’m not the only one that allows others to steal her joy unintentionally by criticizing myself. Y’all, I gotta work on this! I have allowed social media and Satan to kill my self-confidence. This year, I am going to work on being healthier- mind, body, and soul. I want to be a sassy mama lovin’ myself like the Father loves me, seeing myself like my husband sees me, and doing work!

I am so excited to see what this year is going to bring! I have so many fun ideas for this blog and the community I hope to build here. Do you do New Year’s Resolutions? If so, I’d love for you to comment and let me know what you hope 2018 brings in you.
